“I didn't use the inn but the area and esp. the viaduct are gorgeous. Plus you can climb Whernside from there. Or continue to Ingleborough.”

Stay at the foot of Whernside. Wake up, walk the peaks, come home to a pint.
The Station Inn sits at the foot of Whernside — at 736 metres, the highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent are both within easy reach, making the inn one of the most popular starting points for the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. Many walkers set off from our door, complete the 24-mile circular route, and return to a well-earned meal and a pint of locally brewed ale.
Whether you're attempting the full Three Peaks challenge in a single day, tackling the peaks over a weekend, or simply walking one at a time, The Station Inn provides everything you need: comfortable accommodation, a hearty breakfast to fuel your walk, and a warm pub to return to at the end of the day.
Dog-friendly rooms — bring your four-legged walking companion
Free parking — space for up to 50 vehicles, leave your car while you walk
Hearty breakfast — fuel up before you set off
Homemade food — proper pub meals when you get back, served daily
Local ales — a genuine Yorkshire free house with the best of locally brewed beer
Drying facilities — because Yorkshire weather is Yorkshire weather
Bunkhouses — budget-friendly option for larger walking groups
The classic clockwise Three Peaks route from Ribblehead takes you up Whernside first via the famous aqueduct path, then south to Ingleborough via Chapel-le-Dale, and finally across to Pen-y-ghent via Horton-in-Ribblesdale before returning to Ribblehead. The total distance is approximately 24 miles with around 1,585 metres of ascent.
The Station Inn is perfectly placed on this route — visible from the slopes of Whernside and just a short walk from the Ribblehead Viaduct. There's nothing quite like seeing the pub from the summit and knowing a warm fire and a cold pint are waiting for you.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park offers endless walking beyond the Three Peaks. The Ribblehead Viaduct walk, Ingleborough Cave, White Scar Cave, and the Settle-Carlisle Railway are all on our doorstep. Many guests stay for a long weekend, tackling a different walk each day and returning to the inn each evening for homemade food and live entertainment.

“Great location and brilliant location if you want to visit the Ribblehead Viaduct or are a railway enthusiast. Close to the Dalesway if you are up for a detour. It is expensive but you are paying for the view and the location. Service was great and good food for dinner and breakfast.”

“Just a great no nonsense country pub serving no nonsense fabulous food. The service was friendly and prompt and the locals and other customers were friendly. We did not stay at the pub so cannot comment on the rooms. However, they also have overnight parking for campervans at a small charge. It's close to the station though, so you could get the train and stay at the pub. Of course it's next to the fantastic Ribblehead viaduct and the very picturesque Yorkshire dales. So lots of things to do that does involve screens, but does mean that you'll have a great time.”

“Friendly staff. Great pub food tasty and sensible portions. The sandwiches and small fish and chips are meals in themselves even if you have just been round Whernside in -12 windchill sleety rain and clag 👍. Enjoyed the roaring open fire. Also had a good coffee before we started the walk.”

“A mere few minutes walk from the viaduct and a hop from the train station or the roadside parking available, this homely pub has good real ale, fantastic food and lovely staff - if you got snowed in, you wouldn't rush to call for rescue. Pork pie, chips, mush peas and gravy was as easy on the wallet as it was delicious. Shame I was too full to eat all the chips (sorry). The perfect place to finish (or start) a good long walk and my go to pub when hiking in the area.”

“Stayed for two nights in the car park in my motorhome. Ate in the pub on both evenings and food excellent and reasonably priced. Tables are on a first come, first served basis but didn’t have a problem getting a table. Dog friendly. Fabulous views of the Viaduct and surrounding area. The Ribblehead Circular walks start from here too. Would recommend and will return in the future.”

“What an amazing place for a pub. The views of the Dales and Ribblehead Viaduct are spectacular! The pub itself offers great quality food in a traditional pub atmosphere. We stayed there on Friday and the staff are extremely friendly and the lady from Australia who served our drinks was lovely. We can't wait to visit again?”

“Stopped at the Station Inn while walking the Dales Way. It's a little off the trail but the location and viaduct are well worth a visit! The rooms were clean and comfortable with great views so would definitely recommend a stop for a drink if you are out that way.”

“Wonderful place to escape the cold or refresh from the heat of summer! The location is hard to beat in the middle of the Yorkshire three peaks. Worth the visit after a nice long or short if preferred walk down to the viaduct or beyond. Lovely place, well recommended.”

“Great location just up from Ribblehead Viaduct. Has outdoor seating to the front and additional seating in the beer garden at the rear. Great views. Range of handpulled cask beers were Settle Brewery's Ribblehead Bitter, Wensleydale Brewery's Gamekeeper and Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery's Pennine Ambler.”

“So close to Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle line. We were able to sit in the beer garden and watch the trains going over the viaduct. The food was so good as well, served by extremely friendly staff. We didn't stay there overnight but we certainly will be in the future.”

“Great place with a great atmosphere during the evenings and stunning views. It’s a fantastic place to get a drink after completing a walk. One of the best views I have had from a campsite. It was a little noisy due to sheep but this is the countryside.”
